Beef stew in a crock pot / slow cooker is very easy and quick to prepare and the results are absolutely delicious and savory! Serve with warm biscuits, cornbread, or other type of bread.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. Stew Beef
  • 1 can Tomato Soup
  • Carrots, sliced
  • Potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • Celery, sliced
  • Onion, sliced
  • 1 can diced Tomatoes, drained
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt: regular, seasoning, garlic, or other
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • dash of Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • Enough Water, and/or Beef Broth to cover ingredients in cooker
  • Optional ingredients for variety if you make stew often: various beans, peas, corn, broccoli, bell pepper, bay leaf, minced garlic clove, dash of oregano or other herb, flour (thickens stew), soy sau
  1. Step 1

    Place potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes, and meat in bottom of slow cooker.

  2. Step 2

    Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, sugar, spices, tomato soup, and water over vegetables and meat and stir.

  3. Step 3

    Cook on low setting for 10 or 12 hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with warm biscuits or corn bread.
  • Try these optional ingredients for variety if you make stew often: various beans, peas, corn, broccoli, bell pepper, bay leaf, minced garlic clove, dash of oregano or other herb, flour (thickens stew), soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, cooking wine, RoTel for spicy instead of canned tomatoes, etc.

on 11/7/2008 Tomatoes? In stew? I hope mine turns out - it's cooking right now and I didn't put tomatoes in it thinking that they were more for chili not stew.
