Have you ever walked into a formal office and envied how the staff dressed? They looked so professional and so stunning and you wish you could be like them but you know that you couldn’t wear those shoes or that lacy top without freezing? How do they look so good? The answer is style. You can look superb and it’s all because of your style. Read on to learn how to dress comfortable in a formal office setting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know the key element is to have a coordinated outfit. Make sure the style, color and design go well together.

  2. Step 2

You need to have your clothes suitable to your body structure, so if you’re not built like a beanpole, then horizontal stripes will not complement your figure. Wear designs that are suited to your shape.

  3. Step 3

Wear colors that are appropriate for the atmosphere. Take note of the colors the rest of the staff is wearing. Fluorescent colors may be your favorite but if they are not worn in your office, you should avoid wearing them.

  4. Step 4

If you want to wear that dressy blouse or lace top but you’re concerned about getting cold, then you could wear an elegant camisole underneath it. As well, select your clothing so that it is made of warming materials and not ones that cause you to chill.

  5. Step 5

If you can’t wear those slinky shoes, then find ones that are comfortable for you. Again, make sure they match with your outfit. Avoid casual loafers, sandals or flip flops as they are not coordinating to formal office wear. But you can get walking shoes or simple heals, especially in black, that can suit any wardrobe and be most appropriate.

  6. Step 6

Take notice how the other people are wearing their hair and you can follow their general dress code for hair style. Hair should not be loose and all over the place but rather styled or worn swept up. It is also the first part of you that is seen by anyone so it should be your crown and attraction, yet it should still represent you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose clothing that is comfortable. You can have both style and comfort so don’t feel that you have to wear any particular outfit to be professional. Slacks, skirts or dresses with blazers or loose jackets look professional and you can complement them with appropriate shoes, jewelery and hairstyle.
