Step 1
Place all your cleaners and soaps on the belt first. That gets them down the line and out of the way so their fragrance won’t get on to the rest of your groceries.
-
Step 2
Put all your canned foods on the belt, and then follow with boxed and packaged foods. This puts all the solids and heavy items at the end of the packing belt so they'll get packed first.
-
Step 3
Next, put your bags of milk and other dairy products on. They are usually in harder containers and so can take the brunt of other groceries pushing on them. Place your eggs on top of your bag of milk so it is easily noticed because that is the one item you don't want squashed.
-
Step 4
Follow by placing all your harder fruits and veggies first and then your delicate ones.
-
Step 5
Finish with all your bakery goods.Don’t toss them on top of each other, but rather, place them carefully on the belt with the tail end of loaves towards the cashier. That way, the cashier will grab your loaf by the tail and not squish them by trying to pick them up.
-
Step 6
When you’re packing your groceries, pack them in the order they are in on the belt, beginning with your cleaners. Put them all in one box or bag so that the perfumes will be confine and not spread on to your food.
-
Step 7
Pack all your dairy products into one box, if possible, or one bag. That will keep them cool until you get home.
-
Step 8
Put your loaves in a bag standing up because you don’t want anything put on top of them. Usually three loaves will fit in a bag. If it’s possible to put them in a box standing up, that’s even better because the box will hold its form and not squash anything.
