Read on to learn how to find ghosts at the Roman Coliseum.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Camera
  • Digital tape recorder
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Access to the Coliseum
  • Sunscreen if visiting in summer
Step1
First make your way to Rome. You'll find the Coliseum by asking or locating the "Piazza del Colosseo." During the off season (November through March) the Coliseum closes at 3:00 p.m. Otherwise it is open from 9:00 a.m. until one hour before sunset Monday through Saturday and 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sundays. You'll find several bus routes that will take you there. Ask at your hotel and you'll have no problem finding your way to the monument.
Step2
First, walk amongst the seating areas. Guards and visitors have reported seeing ghostly figures sitting in the arena as if entranced by the gore below. Take plenty of photos here.
Step3
Hang around outside after dark and see if you can spot the common apparition of a Roman guard silhouetted against the skyline. Many locals have seen this vision so ask around and hear some personal stories.
Step4
Walk around the lower area where the gladiators and animals were held. Cold spots and the sounds of animals roaring have been experienced by many in this area. Do some EVP work here and see if you can catch something on tape.
