Here is a deilicious step-by-step way to make homemade chili!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground beef 1 large onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic minced, or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 15 or 28 oz can of tomatoes 6 oz. can tomato paste 4 cups cooked kidney beans (canned or home cooked
  1. Step 1

You will need a large pot to cook this in, preferrably 4 quarts or larger.

  2. Step 2

First thing into the pot is ground beef and the chopped onion. Start by cooking it over medium heat. Break the hamburger into small chunks as you cook it. When the hamburger is no longer pink and completely done, drain the fat off of it and the onions.

  3. Step 3

Open up the canned tomatoes and tomato paste. Add their contents to the big pot on the stove. Also add 2 1/2 cups water for simmering.Add the beans (canned or home cooked), chili powder, salt and pepper. Stir it all up and bring to a boil.

  4. Step 4

Once brought to a boil, reduce the heat so that the chili merely simmers, and allow it to cook, covered or not, for about 1hour.

Tips & Warnings
  • It will be edible in about 20 minutes, but tastes better after longer simmering.
