Things You'll Need:
- Bulk dried lavender flowers
- Rosemary leaves (optional)
- Child socks
- Organdy sachet bags or satin pouches
- Needle and thread
- Buttons (optional)
-
Step 1
To make the sachets, you need organza bags, satin pouches or child socks. These sachets are popular so allow at least two per guest. Fill them with dried lavender flowers or a mix of lavender with rosemary leaves.
-
Step 2
Sachet bagOrganza bags, pre-cut and laced with ribbon, can be purchased at party shops, craft stores and wedding stores. Satin pouches with drawstrings are also available. Fill them with dried lavender flowers. Gently tie the bag closed and knot the string. A rosemary sprig can be added for a unique fragrance.
-
Step 3
Toddler socksIf you prefer to use cute socks, choose toddler sock sizes with a cuff. They are easy to fill and decorate. Gently fill the sock about two-thirds full with flowers. For a smooth sock, do not overpack. Turn up the cuff and baste the sock closed so the lavender does not spill out. Fold the cuff back down to conceal the stitching.
-
Step 4
Button socksFor decorative touches, you can sew buttons on the sock cuffs. Glitter pens can be used for added glamour, but the glitter may rub off on linens or lingerie at a later time.
-
Step 5
Just for fun, you can make a pair of matching sock sachets with identical decorative buttons. Make a pair for each guest but only give them one when they arrive. The other one can be part of a game or table decoration. Be sure each guest gets her sock mate.
