How to Make a Card Table Cave

On a rainy day or bored afternoon, toddlers may need a hideaway. Give them an adventure in your own home. In five minutes, you can set up a place to play and exercise their imaginations in a card table cave.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Set up a card table in a room with access around the table. Be sure it is not near a heater or floor furnace.

  2. Step 2

    Cover the table with a large sheet or comforter. A neutral color or nature pattern is fun, but anything washable will work.

  3. Step 3

    Use a large clip or clothespin on one side to make an opening. Small children are easily disoriented if they do not see a way out.

  4. Step 4

    You probably do not need to add anything to the hideaway. Children will usually add toys, books and snacks. Keep pillows and blankets nearby for cave nappers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be ready to crawl into the cave when invited.
