It happens to all of us,you wake up at night turn on the light and a roach scampers across the floor. You want to get rid of the roaches without hurting you,the children and pets? Try this simple recipe for a roach dough. I found this recipe years ago in a book called Tight Wad GazetteII By:Amy Dacyczyn

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Medium bowl (to mix in)
  • Large spoon
  • Sugar
  • Shortening or bacon drippings
  • Chopped onion
  • Flour
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Aluminum foil
Step1
In medium bowl add...
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening or bacon drippings
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup flour
8 oz. baking soda
Add enough water to make dough consistency.
Step2
Stir the concoction.
Make small balls out of the dough.
Place on small pieces of aluminum foil.
Step3
Put them in under sink cabinets and any inconspicuous place you can find.
Treat this like any other roach bait. Keep out of reach of children & pets. It could make them have a nasty tummy ache.
Step4
The way this works is roaches can not belch.
The roach dough gives them gas they can not get rid of and they die.
I have used this recipe myself for years and it really works.

Tips & Warnings

  • The dough also kills mice.
  • Use a small ice cream scoop to make the dough balls.
  • Keep away from Childen and pets.

on 4/25/2008 I tried another good roach exterminator, too, that I heard of, based on the same idea as what you made with the dough. You take equal parts of baking soda and powdered sugar and mix them thoroughly. Then burp the roaches with a flyswatter. I had a few walk right up to me, then die. It's quite dramatic, though not as good as the dough, which actually draws them to it, maybe because of the onion smell. Do roaches have noses? It's a mystery... Thanks again for an excellent article/recipe.

on 4/2/2008 I love this idea! Recently, our neighbors in the apartment house moved out, and the apartment manager got the exterminator and all the roaches that didn't get exterminated came over to our place. My hair is standing on end as we speak! I am making a huge batch of Leanne's Patent Roach Dough a.s.a.p! Thank you! I'll give you a progress report.
