Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- 1 pot of water
- 1 tea bag (black)
- cream
- sugar or honey
- 1 cup
- 1 saucer
Step1
Get out all of your ingredients and lay them out on the counter.
Step2
Start your water to boil. Not just any boil. You will be watching your water for a specific temperature quality that is called "fish eye". This means the size of the bubbles in the boiling water needs to be the size of a fishes eye or slightly smaller than an average size marble. Bigger bubbles (old man) are too hot for your tea, and tiny bubbles (baby's breath) are not hot enough.
Step3
Add sugar or honey to the bottom of your tea cup
Step4
Pour your "fish eye" boil over your sugar or honey. Leave 1 inch of space from the top. Stir lightly until dissolved and wait for the fluid to stop moving.
Step5
Into your hot yet still water gently place your tea bag in the center of your cup. Place the saucer upside down over the top of the cup and allow to naturally steep for about 4 minutes.
Step6
Gently raise your tea bag through the center of the water and over to one side. Use your spoon to lightly squeeze the bag on the side of the cup. Discard the bag.
Step7
To add cream or 1/2 & 1/2: raise the pouring pitcher 4 to 6 inches above the glass. Pour a stream into the center of your tea. The stream should be about the size of a pencil in diameter. Pour until the creamer reaches the bottom of the cup, bounces back and opens over the top like a milky flower. This is the proper amount.
