How to Hug a Dog

Dogs are usually darling, doting and completely huggable. Chasing after one to embrace him, however, is not a good idea as the dog may think you are trying to nab him to do something heinous like clip his nails. The trick to hugging a dog is easily learned.

Instructions

1. Sit on the ground and call your dog while waving a big, fat steak bone or other enticing treat.

2. While he laps at the treat, start to scratch his back and ears.

3. Wrap one arm around the top of the dog and the other on the side his head while you keep scratching and petting.

Tips & Warnings

• If you have two dogs, leave one arm open so they both can be hugged at the same time.
• Brace yourself so you don’t fall over when the dog returns your affection by lapping your face.
