Cats generally like being hugged about as much as they like baths. To hug a cat, you might first need to distract him or get him "drunk" on catnip. You may have to be sneaky to get the opportunity to express your affection.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cat
  • Catnip
  • Soothing and sneaky embrace
  1. Step 1

Call the cat over by offering some delicious catnip.

  2. Step 2

Make sure the cat is wholly engaged in the catnip before you softly pet him.

  3. Step 3

Lay on your stomach with your head facing the cat and slowly bring your arms around the side of your head towards the cat.

  4. Step 4

Use your hands to embrace the kitty, while speaking in soothing tones. If he doesn’t scratch your eyes out, move closer until you can embrace it.

Tips & Warnings
  • As much as you may want to pick a cat up for a hug, it’s not a good idea unless you have one of those rare cats that tolerate embraces.

on 5/14/2008 I have a friend whom I often compare to a cat--he's super aloof. I think I'll try these tricks on him as well :-)
