How to Hug a Cat

Cats generally like being hugged about as much as they like baths. To hug a cat, you might first need to distract him or get him "drunk" on catnip. You may have to be sneaky to get the opportunity to express your affection.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cat
  • Catnip
  • Soothing and sneaky embrace
  1. Step 1

    Call the cat over by offering some delicious catnip.

  2. Step 2

    Make sure the cat is wholly engaged in the catnip before you softly pet him.

  3. Step 3

    Lay on your stomach with your head facing the cat and slowly bring your arms around the side of your head towards the cat.

  4. Step 4

    Use your hands to embrace the kitty, while speaking in soothing tones. If he doesn’t scratch your eyes out, move closer until you can embrace it.

Tips & Warnings
  • As much as you may want to pick a cat up for a hug, it’s not a good idea unless you have one of those rare cats that tolerate embraces.

on 5/14/2008 I have a friend whom I often compare to a cat--he's super aloof. I think I'll try these tricks on him as well :-)
