How to meet locals and ex-patriates at your travel destination. These folks will help you get a bit of exercise, show you some of the terrain you will not otherwise see and you will have an affordable afternoon/evening meeting fun and interesting people.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Inter-net
  • Sense of humour
  • Old shoes

Step1
Prior to travelling, whether in a group or alone, use any search engine, enter the name of the city you are visiting and HASH HOUSE HARRIERS.
Step2
This will likely lead you to one of several large web pages that contain information about HASH HOUSE HARRIERS chapters all over the world and you will also likely find the website for the specific hash in your travel destination.
Step3
I.E., search Cairo Hash House Harriers and you will find the website
www.cairohash.com This website will explain what Hash House Harriers in Cairo is all about, you will see some information about Hash House Harrier history. You will also find Hash House Harrier contact information, directions to the weekly event and a page of photos so you can get an idea about what happens at each event.
Step4
After you have seen the meeting schedule, determined the location and adjusted your schedule accordingly you can attend the event. Everyone is always welcome at any Hash House Harrier event, in any city, anywhere. You MUST have a sense of humor. Usually a lot of beer is consumed but drinking is not mandatory. You will either have to walk or run for about an hour, but physical fitness is not required and you will see parts of your travel destination that you will not see any other way.
Step5
Hash House Harries exist in every large city, and many small cities, in the world. Any search engine can provide more information. This is a truly fun and unique way to meet ex-pats and locals whereever you are traveling. No one is a snob and you will get lots of local advice on affordable accomodation, must see tourism, local dining and of course advice on good bars and discos.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will need old shoes. Preferrably ones you are will to throw away after you finish your Hash House Harrier experience.
  • Mandatory Sense Of Humour Required. If you cannot laugh, don't attend.
