This is a simple Steps of how to prepare a Sermon.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bible, Scratch Paper, Another Paper for Final writing, Bible dictionaries, and a pen!
  1. Step 1

    Pray and asked the Holy spirit to guide you as you prepared the Sermon.

  2. Step 2

    Think for a moment on what the is/are the needs of the audience.

  3. Step 3

    Find your text!

  4. Step 4

    Study the text, and asked the following questions:
    What is/are the topic/theme of the verse?
    Who is the speaker and the reader?
    When did the speaker spoke the verse (the background of the text and the situation/s behind the scene)
    Where did story takes place?
    How does the story communicates to you!

  5. Step 5

    After that step, think of Title.

  6. Step 6

    Make a proposition, for example if the title is Loyalty, proposition could be, How to be loyal? Or what is loyalty?

  7. Step 7

    Make now the body of the sermons where you will answer the proposition.

  8. Step 8

    After having the body, make a Conclusions of your sermon.

  9. Step 9

    Make an application statement, answering the question, how?

  10. Step 10

    Make a draft first of your sermon following this Format:
    Title:
    Text:
    Introduction:
    Proposition:
    Body:
    Conclusion:
    Application:

  11. Step 11

    Finalize your sermon, and practice preaching it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Begin a very simple topic that is very relevant in the needs of the audience.
  • Do not forget to pray!

on 8/21/2009 Great tips! One of my favorite place to go for sermon outlines and ideas is preachit.org - It's pretty cool because you can search within the text, search authors, search bible books or even by topic. God Bless!
