Fiber has been shown to help prevent several diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Fiber also helps you to feel full longer, which means you'll eat less, and lose unwanted inches and pounds, all while actively helping your body fight disease. There are several different and tasty ways to incorporate more high fiber foods into your diet each day.

Switching to whole-grain bread in place of your white bread will give you more grams of fiber per slice of bread. You're already eating a sandwich, so why not get more fiber in your diet simply by eating whole-grain bread?

  2. Step 2

Brown rice not only tastes fantastic, it packs more fiber than white rice, so you can get more fiber in your diet simply by mixing 1/2 of your white rice with brown rice. Or, just go the whole way and eat all brown rice.

  3. Step 3

Pancakes, muffins, bread, or cookies made from scratch, using a small amount of oat bran, rolled oats or wheat bran, instantly become high fiber foods.

  4. Step 4

Whole-wheat pastry flour substituted for all-purpose flour when baking from scratch also helps you get more fiber in your diet.

Dark, green leafy vegetables are great for adding a bit of fiber to your diet. Include them in salads or pasta.
