How to learn French effectively

Learning any language may be a challenge for some people and French is no different. Once you have made the decision to learn French, you will want to learn the language as effectively as you possibly can. In order to do this there are certain steps that you should take. For these steps to be of any use however you will have to be committed to learning the French language.

Step1
First you need to learn the main French phrases. This is one of the methods persons who teach French say is very effective. What you will find is that there is quite a large number of common phrases and whether you are using a book or some other method to learn French, the material usually has a list of phrases. If you can, get an audio of the phrases and listen to it throughout the day every day. You can do this in your car as you commute to work or to class.
Step2
Submerge yourself in the French language. That means reading, viewing and listening to everything French as much as you can. This will give you an understanding of what the language is all about and force you to learn it. There are a lot of resources out there that you can use for this.
Step3
It is also a great idea to take part in a French conversational group. If you attend classes chances are the person who is teaching you French will know about where you can find French conversational groups. By attending these groups you will get help with speaking the French language properly. This will definitely keep you highly motivated.
Step4
If you can afford it then you can also travel to France or another French speaking country like Quebec, Canada. If you should do this to help you learn French, be aware that in some regions the French expression are a bit different. The good thing will be that you can still practice your French on a daily basis without going to any class, just walk down the road and speak to people.
Step5
If you are learning the French language then you are going to need a good French/English dictionary. Use the dictionary when you hear, see or cannot remember a word.
Step6
You can also try and find or make friends with someone who is French. This person can be a source of conversations in French and greatly help your learning process.
