Things You'll Need:
- Apple Computer
- Mac OS X Leopard
- Safari
- Favorite Web Sites
-
Step 1
Launch the Safari web browser.
-
Step 2
Navigate to one of your favorite websites by typing in the URL into the address bar. For this article, we'll use Apple's website, apple.com.
-
Step 3
Select "File" from Safari's top menu and click on the "Open in Dashboard..." option. You can also select the Web Clip button (a dashed box with scissors) to the left of the address bar instead of using the menu.
-
Step 4
Move the box that appears to the section of the site you want to "clip." Everything but that box in the browser is faded to gray so you can see what section you're selecting.
-
Step 5
Adjust the shape of the box to include the first few entries of "Top Stories" on the Apple site's front page. If you're on another site, adjust the shape of the box to include everything you want in your new widget.
-
Step 6
Click the "Add" button when you're done with selecting the area you want for your widget. Your widget now appears on your dashboard along with the other widgets.
-
Step 7
Go to your dashboard and click the "info" button (italic letter "i" in a circle) on the lower left of the Web Clip Widget you just created.
-
Step 8
Select the border you want for your new Web Clip Widget. You can select from six different border styles to change the look of your widget.

on 12/30/2008 Hi, do you know how can this web clip be saved as a new widget? The problem is I accidentally exclude mine and I had to do everything all over again... Thanks!
