Are your kitchen cabinets too full? Do you have a hard time finding what you need when you know it is there somewhere? Food expires just like medication does. Here is a remedy for cluttered cabinets.
plastic or cardboard box a little smaller than the size of one cabinet shelf
Step1
Take everything out of each kitchen cabinet that you haven't used in 6 months or longer and store them in a container nearby. You can use as many containers as needed, but keep in mind you are trying to unclutter the cabinets.
Step2
If you actually need an item, take it out and put it back into cabinet where it used to be stored.
Step3
After 6 months, you can confidently toss everything out. Chances are it is expired anyway and you will have to replace it. Or you really didn't need to waste precious cabinet space on something that wasn't going to ever being used.
Tips & Warnings
Date seldom used items when you but them, not everything shows an expiration date.
Sometimes a separate cabinet is good to store more of what is in the main cabinets
Remember that buying in bulk is only thrifty if you are actually going to use all of the product!
You can't save any money of you toss it out because it expired.
Sometimes it is better to borrow a teaspoon of something rather than buy a whole container of it.
