How to make authentic fresh Mexican salsa - OLE!

SO much better than that stuff in a jar!
SO much better than that stuff in a jar!

Have you ever eaten fresh Mexican salsa that fills your mouth with bursts of fresh flavor and wondered how to make it? Forget about that stuff in the jar. You'll never want to eat it again after trying this - and it is SO easy!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 fresh large Roma tomatoes
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 cloves of fresh garlic
  • 2 serrano or one jalapeno chile
  • one TBS olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of sugar
  1. Step 1

Slice the ends off each tomato. Cut each tomato into small dice. Put in bowl. (small dice is very important!)

  2. Step 2

Chop the onion into small dice and add to tomato.

  3. Step 3

Remove the stems from the chiles. Cut into very small dice - don't discard the seeds! WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING THE CHILES!

  4. Step 4

Chop the cilantro finely and add to dish.

  5. Step 5

Add olive oil, juice of one lime, salt and sugar. Stir and then chill for at least an hour to let the flavors meld. Serve with tortilla chips. Buen provecho!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use more or less chiles depending on your heat preference.
  • BE VERY CAREFUL HANDLING CHILES AND DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE OR EYES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE WASHED YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY.
