Step 1
Instead of walking by those pennies (and other change) that's just lying there on the ground, pick them up and put them in your pocket. Nobody will think any less of you for helping yourself.

When you get the change home, place it in your penny jar. When you have 50 pennies, roll them up to make half a dollar.

Step 3
Each night when you come home from work, turn your pockets out and put all your loose change in the penny jar. Make sure you roll it all up as it accumulates.

Get the whole family involved in your penny project. When you have the whole jar filled with rolls of change, count it. Have each family member write what they think the money should be spent on, and put the suggestions into a hat. Now, wasn't that worth the little effort it took?

Make sure that you aren't passing by valuable pennies. Go online to check out the rare ones.
