Professional women face some tough choices when it comes to wardrobe. We want our colleagues to see us as serious professionals, but we do not want to become "one of the guys" or just another suit. If your position requires that you wear business formal to the office, don't despair. You can find something that is flattering and feminine, and entirely professional.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Evaluate the shape of your body. Many women take a different size on their top half than they do on their bottom half; if you're one of them, you will get the best fit if you purchase matching separates rather than a suit.

  2. Step 2

Shop for color. It's okay to purchase a suit in color. If you are worried about wearing red, tone it down and go with a lovely claret suit. If you simply cannot go with color for fear it will diminish your professional image, go with a colorful blouse or sweater under your dark suit.

  3. Step 3

Pay attention to shape. You are probably not built like a box, so why wear a suit that is built like one? Find a suit that is flattering to your shape and height.

  4. Step 4

Go for fit. A professional yet feminine suit should be tailored to fit your curves comfortably. Just don't overdo it--you don't want a suit that emphasizes too much.

  5. Step 5

Listen to your inner voice. If it says, "You look like your father in that pinstripe monstrosity," don't buy it. The pink linen can be just as professional paired with a navy blouse and pumps.
