Things You'll Need:
- Cheerleading advisor or coach supervision
-
Step 1
The panel of judges is made up of individuals who are put in charge of looking for specific things during a routine. Synchronization is crucial to success. Even the cradles should be together! When the squad performs together, it should look like 1 entity rather than 20 separate cheerleaders.
-
Step 2
Make better use of cheerleaders who are hiding in the back while the rest of the squad is tumbling. Have them get signs ready on the side or have put up a banner flag. Everyone should be used at all times. No hiders!
-
Step 3
Even if the squad jumps aren’t perfect, you must do them! You won’t earn any points for skipping a section of the scoresheet. If you have half of the squad perform decent jumps, you will gain at least a point or 2.
-
Step 4
When you hit your routine (and if you practice enough, you will), act as if you expected to do so! We understand the emotion of finally performing the routine you've been practicing for months for the competition mat, but an overexcited display makes it look like that was the first time you hit it! Elite squads know they are elite.
-
Step 5
Use the entire performance area. Staying in one formation or on one part of the floor gets boring and it will cost you points! Vary your formations, make them visually pleasing.
