Books are expensive these days and not everyone has the money to purchase a new book every time their favorite author churns out a new one. One way to help yourself and others is to start an online romance book swap. This can be a great way to get books for just the cost of postage rather than having to pay full price, plus you can get rid of books that you no longer want to keep. It is a win-win situation for everyone.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up a website. A free one is fine, even if it has a bit of forced advertising on it. All you want to do is have a place to post the books that you and others want to swap.

  2. Step 2

Post a list of books that you would like to swap for others. The only way to really get started is to be the first to post.

  3. Step 3

Have your email on your website and have others who have an interest email their lists to you and then post them on your website as well.

  4. Step 4

Tell your family and friends who like to read and ask them to pass the word to their friends. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to get something like this started.

  5. Step 5

Advertise online where it is free. Remember you just want to get the word out and there is no need to spend a ton on advertising when all you want to do is swap romance books. There are many places online where you can place free ads. Choose ten or fifteen and then post. It’ll be worth it

Tips & Warnings
  • Post email addresses of the people who have swap lists so that those interested can contact the owners of the books themselves. This prevents you having to store anyone’s books, and saves you and your participants money on postage.
  • Have a rule list for the website so that everyone is clear on how it works and what the consequences are if the rules aren’t followed.
  • Ban anyone from further listing and remove their list if they do not send the book(s) promised to another on the website. No exceptions. Otherwise you may get people that don’t send out the books they promised but are still receiving books from others who trusted them to swap as they promised.
