Most authors these days sell their books online and romance authors can reach so many new buyers when they sell their books online than if they just try and reach people offline. In order to be successful, it really is necessary to have an online presence when it comes to selling your romance books.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

You need to create a professional website or have someone do it for you. Make sure there are links to all the places that sell your books, not just your publisher. So if your book is also available on Amazon or Fictionwise, have a link on your website. Different people prefer different online shopping experiences.

  2. Step 2

Get a free Blogger blog and post there often. Put the covers on your blog and make them a link to your publisher’s purchase page for the books. Many people purchase books when they chance upon an author’s blog and like the look of a book.

  3. Step 3

Participate in online chats and then point other participants to your website. Participating in chats is a fine way to find new fans and it is well worth the extra time.

  4. Step 4

Purchase or trade for slots on high traffic websites such as The Romance Studio or Coffee Time Romance to advertise your romance books. These sites get huge amounts of traffic and it is well worth it to advertise on them.

  5. Step 5

Be a guest blogger on high traffic blogs. This is a great way to get new fans, especially if it is a bestselling author’s blog who is endorsing you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be gracious and kind when you are participating in chats and being a guest blogger. If you are rude, don’t show up or cancel at the last minute you will not win any friends, influence people or sell books.
  • Be careful about voicing controversial opinions on blogs or at chats. While you might not consider your viewpoint to be controversial, you may find that it is to the group you are chatting with or trying to reach on a blog.
