When you are editing a video in Adobe Premiere Pro, you may find a clip that you need is either too dark, or too light. The “Fast Color Corrector” is a great tool you can use to quickly adjust the luminance of a clip.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select the clip from within the Timeline panel that need adjusting by clicking on it with your mouse.

  2. Step 2

Go to the "Effect Controls" panel, and click the triangle next to “Video Effects” to expand its options.

  3. Step 3

Click the triangle next to “Color Correction” to expand its options. Click on “Fast Color Corrector” and drag it to the clip you want to adjust.

  4. Step 4

Go up to the preview window and switch from “Source” to “Effects Controls” by clicking on the tab. From here you can play with the controls to adjust "Balance," "Hue," "Saturation," "Black level," "White level" and "Contrast."

  5. Step 5

"Auto Black Level" will raise the black levels in a clip, making lighter shadows.

  6. Step 6

"Auto White Level" will lower the white levels in a clip, making darker highlights.

  7. Step 7

"Auto Contrast" will apply both the Auto Black Level and Auto White Level simultaneously, making both the highlights darker and the shadows lighter.
