This article explains how to curl your hair using a curling iron. This works good for people with straight hair and those that already have curly hair but want more definition. Believe me on definition..i've had curly hair my entire life, now I can switch between straight and long curls anytime :) You can too!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • clean wet hair
  • clean dry hair
  • blow dryer
  • curling iron
  • texturizing gel/cream
  • witch hazel hair spray

Step 1: You need to wash your hair as you normally would. Allow hair to air dry for about 15 mins, then on a low heat setting blow dry your hair naturally by running fingers through your hair; you aren't trying to make it symmetrical right now, you just want your natural hair to flow through.

Step two: With clips in hand, you will need to take the top part of your hair and put it in clips. For now you will work on the bottom layer of your hair. Start by spraying witch hazel hairspray (it's so light you won't notice it, adds shine, increases manageability) all around the bottom section of your hair. DO NOT SPRAY ROOTS.

  3. Step 3

Step 3: Grab a small section at a time when curling hair so you can get the most definition out of your hair. then run the curling iron halfway down the shaft of the hair and start curling under then flip the iron so the top is facing up, then slighty open the iron, let the hair fall through and re-curl it once more. Do this until you have gotten to the bottom of your hair. Each section of hair must be done this way.

  4. Step 4

Step 4: release the top portion of hair and work your way through step 3. Then when all hair is completely curled run a texturizer at the bottom of your hair, just use very little as it can make it look oily. There is no need to apply hairspray as you have already applied the witch hazel. If you don't have witch hazel hairspray then use a heat tamer so there is not as much damage done to your hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • For more manageability without the hairspray work some frizz serum through out your hair-that also adds shine, keeps the frizzes down, but also weighs down your hair, it works as a relaxer.
  • Never leave the curling iron in your hair for long periods at a time. Suitable time is just a few seconds on high heat.
  • Never use a straightener or curling iron on WET hair, that will burn your hair and you will end up needing a new style!
  • Using too much of any product can make your hair look dull, lifeless, oily and damaged. Apply a dime size - quarter size per length and thickness of hair.
