Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Decide if you want to be alone or with others. Other people might not be able to take the same day you are looking to take but if they can, you can plan a group outing. Using the day for yourself is also a good option, so decide which appeals to you most.
Step2
Decide if you want to plan an all day event (perhaps extended into a three day weekend) or if you want to use the day for the ultimate lounge around the house day.
Step3
Research possible places to go for a day trip. Museums, sporting events, concerts and theater performances all make good day trip options to consider.
Step4
Research possible destinations for a longer trip. In the Northeast in particular, locations such as the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Hershey Park, Pennsylvania and New York City are known for being great places to spend a long weekend.
Step5
Lay low on your day off--make the most of it! Sleep in, stay in your pajamas 'til noon (or all day) and watch all the television you never have time for on a normal work day.
Step6
No matter what you decide to do with your last precious day, always keep it in the back of your mind that you’re getting paid for it. This will make anything you decide to do twice as exciting.
