How to Have Fun at Home on Halloween

Too old for trick or treating? Don’t have kids to take trick or treating? Not into finding a Halloween party to dance The Monster Mash at until dawn? You can have a nice Halloween at home.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Make sure you have candy for the trick or treaters, as you will have to answer the door if you stay home. You don’t want to forget the candy and spend the night hiding behind your couch with the lights off, pretending you aren’t home.
Step2
Stock up on all Halloween movies and specials. There are a ton of scary movies out there in addition to Halloween specials that have been around for ages, such as "It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."
Step3
Bake. There are lots of cookie and cupcake recipes and with the right ingredients you can make some of the best ghost and pumpkin cupcakes or cookies around.
Step4
Invite over some of your friends who also want to have a low key Halloween and won’t mind helping you answer the door.
Step5
Think about all the things you won’t have to deal with by staying home: what the weather is outside and if it does rain how ruined your costume is going to be, how to fix your costume to suit an unexpected cold spell or heat wave, how to keep track of a bunch of screaming kids running around the neighborhood, how to avoid hitting all those kids running around the neighborhood should you be driving anywhere, how to avoid getting hit on at that Halloween party across town--all various reasons that should justify your decision to stay in.
