Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Try to shop at an “off” time. Weekends are usually the most crowded, so going during the week is often a slightly better option. Early mornings or late evenings on both weekdays and weekends are always less crowded than midday.
Step2
Make a list before you go or at least have an idea of what you are looking to get. Going without a plan also leaves room for more aimless wandering that will prolong your visit.
Step3
Try to frequent the same grocery store each time you go. This will allow you to get acquainted with where everything is in that store and help you zero in on exactly what aisles you need to go down for the items you need.
Step4
Never go to the grocery store hungry. You’ll be tempted to wander up and down every aisle admiring everything there is and will likely spend more money than you meant to.
Step5
Brave the self checkout. While these stations sometimes malfunction and can cause more hassle when you have to call an employee for help, figuring out which machines are less temperamental can significantly cut down your time on line.
Step6
Know that shopping for fewer things more often causes more actual trips to the grocery store, but only having to pick up a few things here and there gets you in and out of the store quicker. Buying fewer items lets you use the express checkout every time and will also make self checkout easier for you if you have less items to scan.
