In the age of high-speed communication, we should be thankful about the enormous numbers of self-help tapes and CDs available. From personal development to finance, experts are available to guide us through life’s difficult choices.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine your needs. There are literally hundreds of different self-help tape programs available on the market. Are you looking for advice on love, money, or job success? Narrow down your focus to see what you really need.

  2. Step 2

Talk to others. Self-help tapes have helped millions around the globe. Log onto forums or a chat site to see what others have to recommend. Be honest about what you are looking for and you’re sure to find someone who’s of the same mind.

  3. Step 3

Check the library. Many popular development coaches and professional advisers have their self-help tapes stored at the local library. Even if your branch doesn’t have what you’re looking for, have a chat with the librarian. You can probably get the series ordered.

  4. Step 4

Check eBay and other used sites. Some of these self-help tapes and CDs go back a number of years. There’s no need to buy anything new if the original product still works.

  5. Step 5

Consider doing away with tapes and CDs altogether and simply download what you need. Some coaches have their own installment programs, whereby you can download chapters of books at a time for a small price.

  6. Step 6

Once you’ve found the series you’re looking for, don’t listen to it as gospel. Try to get a second, third or even fourth opinion before following any advice.
