Salad dressings pack more hidden calories than we realize. Even if you are in the habit of making your own salad dressings at home, you can reduce the fat in your vinaigrettes quite easily.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your favorite vinaigrette recipe
  • Fruit juice, broth or water
  • Salad dressing decanter

Step1
Pull out your favorite vinaigrette dressing recipe.
Step2
To reduce the fat in the recipe, substitute fruit juice, broth or water for 3/4 of the oil called for in the recipe.
Step3
Mix as usual, following the remainder of the recipe directions.
Step4
Pour the low-fat vinaigrette into a salad dressing decanter with a well-fitting top and store in the refrigerator.
Step5
Most homemade dressings can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Fresh is always better anyway!

Tips & Warnings

  • Make fresh dressing at home and you'll likely not buy as much from the store because it tastes so good!
