Everything your body actively does involves burning calories to fuel an action. Some actions like running burn tremendous amounts of calories while others like maintaining you body temperature consume substantially less calories.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Ice
  • A glass
  • A Pulse
  1. Step 1

    Add ice to a glass.

  2. Step 2

    Fill said glass with water.

  3. Step 3

    Drink the cold water.

  4. Step 4

As the water enters your body, your body will burn a minuscule amount of calories to compensate for the water's temperature being lower than your own.

Tips & Warnings
  • The amount of calories burned are so small they would probably be almost completely offset if you substituted a low calorie or diet soda for the water. A 12 ounce glass of water at an almost freezing temperature may burn barely ten calories.
  • The biggest benefit of this calorie burning trick is the substitution of calorie free water for higher calorie beverages.
  • Consuming excessive amounts of water in a short period of time may lead to water toxicity and depleted electrolytes.
  • There are no shortcuts to weight loss.
