Look at the price. The price should not be under $100 unless it is on clearance.

Stick with brand names. If you find a brand that you are not sure about, ask the salesperson and where the leather was made. If it is a brand you do not know make sure the leather is English, French or Italian.

Feel the quality of the leather. The leather should be soft and smooth, yet thick and stiff. New leather on a bridle should not be flimsy, grainy or too thin.

Check the quality of the stitching. The stitching should be even, bright and tight.

Search for the fanciest bridle you can get for your money. Rolled or squared leather on the noseband and reins is a fancier type of bridle.
