How to Enhance Green Eyes

Shares & Saves

Many studies estimate that green-eyed people comprise only 2 percent of the world population, making them part of a rare band that includes Emma Stone and Rihanna. If you have these riveting features, make them the center of your style routine.

Dazzling Daytime

Since green eyes tend to pop naturally, a very simple daytime makeup routine can take them up a notch. Sweep a rose gold eyeshadow over your eyelid up to the crease. The gold flecks accentuate the yellow undertones of this eye color.

Follow up the eyeshadow with a black cream eyeliner along the top lash line. Apply the liner in small dashes as close to the top lashes as possible for a subtle emphasis. Top off the look with mascara on your top lashes and a warm peach blush on the apples of your cheeks. Opt for a moisturizing lip balm in light berry with some gold flecks to mirror your eyes. This naturally warm palette works with every hair color, including red, gray, black and brown.

  • Swap out the black eyeliner for a dark, rich plum liner. The deep purple mimics black but contrasts with green eyes for an extra punch to your daytime look.

Purple Smoke

Evening makeup means stardom for green eyes. Brush over a rich plum matte eyeshadow all the way up to the crease. For added drama and depth, swipe a bit of the plum color up into the crease. Dip an angled brush into the eyeshadow and sweep the color along the bottom lash line.

Stipple a tiny bit of gold-flecked eyeshadow on the inner corner of your eyes for a fresh, wide-awake pop of color to contrast with the smoky purple. Apply a black liquid eyeliner to your top lash line and flick the outer corner out slightly to complete the smoky effect. For added allure, line your waterline with a waterproof black pencil.

Keep the look warm with a coral blush and a neutral lip. Black and dark brown hair shine against this bold makeup look.

  • Swap out the purple for a rich, mossy green eyeshadow. This monochrome look draws attention to your eye color and has a slightly more neutral finish than plum. The subtler green also complements blond and red hair colors.

Dare to Wear It

Makeup takes your eyes most of the way to center stage. The right wardrobe completes the package. Look for coral and light yellow shades for daytime wear. These colors contrast with the green and create a warm palette for the office or lunch. Blond-haired beauties should look for warmer yellows to avoid looking washed out or monotone.

Kelly green, moss green and eggplant shades shine in the evening-wear category. Look for saturated jewel tones that highlight and complement those rare greens. Gold and green accessories also play off these catlike irises and work with any hair color under the sun.
