Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Information
- Library
- Time
- Story, article or poem to share
- Computer
- Internet
- Schools
Step1
Call or go to your library and surrounding libraries and find out if they offer a writers' group. Inquire about dates, times and requirements.
Step2
Another resource is your local bookstore or the national chains. Very often they hold writers' critiques and workshops, all you need to do is call and ask. Get on their email or mailing list to stay up to date.
Step3
You can also Google writers' groups, conferences and classes in your area. Though there are many online, you may do better with an in-person group. This offers you guidance and face-to-face critique you may not otherwise get. You may even have opportunity to read your work aloud, which can be valuable in the editing process.
Step4
Some writers' groups are advertised locally in newspapers and parks and recreation fliers. Finding out about one group may lead you to another.
Step5
Colleges, schools and universities often hold groups and classes. Join their mailing lists to be informed of upcoming events.

on 6/11/2008 Another option if you can't find a local writer's group is to start one yourself. It's not hard and the rewards can be worth the effort.
