Things You'll Need:
- AT&T DSL service
- Computer
- Modem
-
Step 1
Try restarting your modem by pushing the power button and waiting for a full two minutes to turn it back on. All the lights should be green. Go to step two if this is not the case.
-
Step 2
Push and hold a button on the bottom of your modem with a pen or sharp object and then release. Your modem will start resetting.
-
Step 3
At this point, type: http://192.168.0.1 in your web address bar. You can cut and paste this in your browser if needed. You may also have to enter the modem serial number which is found on the bottom of the modem.
-
Step 4
Type your user name and password into the fields on your screen.
-
Step 5
Click the "Connect" button on the top of the page.
-
Step 6
You should now receive a message on your screen that you are connected. If so, type a new address in your Web browser and begin browsing the Internet.
-
Step 7
You can also access SBC's self support tool, usually found on your desktop or start menu. This will walk you through modem difficulties.

on 5/25/2009 We have Time Warner and it is much the same... Modems make me nuts. You are right about the tech. When all else fails I call them and they can ping it from their end and make it work.

on 3/8/2009 This will probably work for any brand of DSL modem. They always tell you to unplug it, etc when you call DSL tech support anyway. Good luck, let me know if this helps you. I cannot answer individual inquiries, however.

on 5/6/2008 Hey Midnite.
good article. My modem has several options available on connecting thru your step 3. One is to test the connection, where i found the ATM was no working... surprised tech support when i called because i had already identified the issue.
thanks!
