One of the most famous trademarks of gangsta culture is a complicated handshake. A gangsta handshake is not necessarily a secret handshake. However, each group of individuals will have a specific and sometimes complicated method of greeting. While each handshake will differ, a few tips can give you an idea what a gangsta handshake is like, so that you may adapt it and make it your own.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shake hands with the same hand. The gangsta handshake differs from a standard handshake in that you do not reach across your body to shake hands with two right hands. Rather, one person reaches out with the left while the other with the right so that the shake occurs on one side of the body.

  2. Step 2

Turn your palm up while your friend turns his palm down. Grasp one another at the wrist and the slide your hands down so that you move from wrists to fingertips.

  3. Step 3

Wiggle your fingers a few times once you have come fingertip to fingertip. Once you have released hands, curl your hands into fists and smack your knuckles together once and then drop your hands to your sides.

  4. Step 4

Slap shoulders by leaning across your body and touching right shoulder to right shoulder. You don't have to make a hard impact; however, you don't want the movement to be to soft either. With practice you will find the right amount of pressure to put into the shoulder slap. This is a friendly addition to the gangsta handshake which shows camaraderie and respect.

  5. Step 5

Add any other special moves you like to the basic gangsta handshake. It is very important that you customize the handshake for your group of friends, to make is special and unique.
