Whether you are looking for a fashionable new way to flip a coin to determine heads or tails, or are wanting to expand your coin trick repertoire, flipping a coin off your thigh is a great way to impress your peers. In just a few simple steps you can begin practicing and performing this essential coin flipping trick.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Choose your coin according to your reason for flipping. A quarter is the obvious choice for the basic test of heads or tails, as it is heavier and generally flips better. However, if you are working on height in your coin flipping tricks, go for something a bit lighter weight, such as a penny or a dime.
Step2
Place your chosen coin in the center of your thigh. The more fat on the thigh the better, so while you'll have to find a place where the coin balances easily and where you can easily perform the flip, it is best to center the coin towards your upper thigh. As you practice the trick, you will find the best starting position for you and your body type.
Step3
Form your hands into fists and then quickly smack either side of your thigh with the palm side of your fists. Don't aim directly for the coin itself, but rather just to the side, making sure that each hand hits your thigh simultaneously. Your coin should lift up off of your thigh.
Step4
Practice your thigh smacking and experiment with where to hit in order to gain control over your coin flipping height and direction. With patience, practice and skill you can even begin to hit targets with this coin flipping method.
