How to Dress Cool for Middle School

Each school has its own definition of "cool." To find your school's look, watch your fellow classmates. Middle school is a time when a lot of people wear the same look because students want to fit in. Dress like your school's cool crowd by waiting to see what looks and styles are popular in your middle school hallways before buying any new clothes.

Instructions

1. Check your middle school's dress code before buying cool clothes. Even in schools with uniforms, some uniforms are cooler than others.

2. Ask a friend who attends the middle school what everyone wears. If everyone wears the uniform jumper and not the uniform shorts, wear a jumper until you see what your class considers stylish.

3. Ask an older sister or brother what everyone wears in middle school. Watch what your older brother and sister actually wear. If you suspect your older brother or sister is not cool, ask them what the popular kids wear. Begin to dress like the kids you consider cool.

4. Buy designer clothing and bags if you feel the need. Be prepared to spend your own money on these status items. Coach bags and designer polo shirts are very cool in some middle schools but are also very expensive. Look at resale shops or discount stores if you really feel the need for designer clothing. Your parents may splurge for cool bags and clothes if they you find them at a good price.

5. Wear cool clothes that are wild or Goth at your own risk. Some students cannot see past the look even though they should be able to.

6. Choose a middle ground clothing style to attract friends from a wide range of groups. Show your true style by wearing some of the look but not the entire style.

7. Decide on your own style after trying the cool look at your middle school. It is OK to want to fit in just as it is OK to want to stand out. Choose the look you like and wear it. Remember, the style is probably cool at a middle school somewhere across this big country.
