How to Do a Pop Sound Using the Mouth

The mouth provides endless entertainment for babies and kids as they learn to roll their tongues, make faces and even whistle. But these funny facial tricks aren't just for kids. Using your finger to make a "pop" sound with your mouth is a funny trick for people of all ages and can be a cool sound effect in many different situations--not just making babies laugh.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Form an exaggerated "O" shape with your mouth. Your lips should be tight and the hole small and circular, as if you are going to whistle. The hole only needs to be just large enough to fit your finger in your mouth.
Step2
Pick up your right hand with the thumb down and place your straightened index finger in your mouth up to the second joint on your finger. You're going to bend the finger, but keep it straight when inserting it into your mouth.
Step3
Bend your index finger so that it is hooked slightly into your left cheek. Pull the finger straight out of your mouth so that the hook of the finger catches your lip and pops.
Step4
Practice with both bent and straight index fingers to see which works better for you. Because everyone's mouth is different, some people produce a better noise with a straight finger pulled slightly to the side when it is pulled out of the mouth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that your hands are clean and your fingernails are trimmed before doing this trick to avoid scratching your cheek or lips or putting germs in your mouth.
