When you're unable to ride your skateboard but still feel the need to "skate or die," you may turn to a fingerboard to help you scratch your itch. When you've mastered the ollie and other basic tricks, give the Pop Shuv It--an ollie in which the fingerboard spins 180 degrees beneath your fingers--a try.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Fingerboard
Step1
Put your index finger in the middle of your fingerboard and your middle and ring fingers on the tail of the board. Roll along a smooth surface.
Step2
Press down on the tail of the fingerboard to raise the front in the air. Roll your wrist and lift your hand in the air. So far, you have simply begun an ollie trick, also known as a jump. You can think of this as the pop part of the pop shuv it.
Step3
Shove the rear of the fingerboard away from you so that the board spins 180 degrees. This is the shuv it part of the trick.
Step4
Let the fingerboard spin without touching it. When the board has spun 180 degrees, put your fingers back on it, with the two rear fingers on the front and the index finger near the middle.
Step5
Push down evenly on the fingerboard so that all four wheels land at the same time. Remember that the tail of the fingerboard is in the front. The fingerboard's momentum requires that you keep going in that direction. If you can roll away, you have successfully completed the pop shuv it trick.

Tips & Warnings

  • To get the fingerboard pointed in the proper direction before doing another trick, do a second pop shuv it.
