Gift giving can be overwhelming and expensive when you have a large circle of friends. Giving great gifts does not have to break the bank. Planning in advance and using creativity can drastically cut the amount of money you spend on presents.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make something. Buy supplies for gifts and then make them yourself. Save money when you purchase supplies and mass product items to use for presents.

  2. Step 2

Buy gifts in advance when shopping clearance racks. Keep a list in your purse of the friends you buy gifts for. Purchase items on clearance, and then store them in your closet until it is time to give the present.

  3. Step 3

Shop at five and dime stores. Diligently browsing the racks at thrift stores can turn up great finds. Find items that are gently used or that still have the original price tag. Ask what day the five and dime puts new items out, and frequent the store on that day.

  4. Step 4

Make a coupon book full of services that you provide for your friend. Provide coupons good for free babysitting, borrowing a favorite outfit, a pedicure, car wash and other service that fit the needs of your recipient.

  5. Step 5

Shop at discount stores. Look for presents at stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Burlington Coat Factory. Look in all sections of the store to find unexpected items at great prices.

  6. Step 6

Make your friends favorite meal or dessert. Invite your friend over to eat, or serve it just for your friend.

  7. Step 7

Fill an inexpensive vase with flowers picked from your own yard. Wrap some pretty ribbon around the vase, and give it with a great card.
