How to Get Level 99 Smithing on Runescape
Smithing is one of the more thankless arts in Runescape, as it is one of the least efficient ways to make money. Still, if you wish to smith all the way to level 99, the best way is to know which ores to move up to once you have the level to do so.

1
Decide whether you want to buy the ores or mine them yourself. If you mine them, you also build up your mining level. You should stock at least 500 copper and tin to start with.
-
2
Stock up on iron and coal, too, if you're mining the ores yourself. You won't smith them yet, but you'll be ready when you do. Build up at least 10,000 iron and 50,000 coal.

3
Smelt the copper and tin in a furnace to make 500 bronze bars, which builds your smithing level to 16. Then forge the bronze in Varrock into anything and sell it at the general store to reach Level 26.
-
4
Take on quests that will build your smithing level once you reach Level 26. Recipe for Disaster and Giant Dwarf may be the simplest to start, but Knight's Sword, Elemental Workshop II and Cabin Fever give the most experience.
-
5
Start smithing iron once you reach Level 30. Smelt all the iron you store into steel bars, then sell them in the forums or forge them into axes or armor. This will help build your level to 40 or 50.
-
6
Switch to smelting gold around Level 40 (you don't need to forge gold). You're better off buying the gold than mining it if you're trying to build experience quickly.
-
7
Complete the Family Crest quest and get the Steel Gauntlets, then have Avan enchant them into GoldSmith gauntlets. You will now earn 56.2 points per gold bar smithed, giving you the fastest path to Level 99.
