How to Freeze a Banana

Frozen bananas are a guilt free and delightful treat. Freeze ripe bananas for later use. Use frozen bananas to make smoothies, bread and other yummy treats. Freezing bananas is easy no matter which technique you choose. Save money when you freeze bananas for later use instead of tossing them when they are over ripe.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Toss bananas in the freezer when they are still in their peel. Thaw frozen bananas that are in the peel before using them for bread, cookies and other baking recipes. Don't worry about the black peel, the banana is fine on the inside.

  2. Step 2

    Peel and slice ripe bananas. Place banana slices in a freezer bag and then in the freezer. Use sliced bananas while they are frozen for smoothies or for eating by themselves. Thaw sliced bananas for baking purposes.

  3. Step 3

    Remove the peel from a ripe banana. Cut the banana in half and remove the stem from the bottom. Place the banana halves in the freezer. Dip the frozen bananas in melted chocolate and put them back in the freezer until the chocolate is firm.

  4. Step 4

    Use a knife to cut a banana in half lengthwise. Slide the banana halves in a freezer bag, and put them in the freezer. Use frozen bananas for banana splits. Dip them in chocolate or peanut butter before serving with the banana split.

  5. Step 5

    Puree bananas in the blender. Add a small amount of lemon juice to the puree. Freeze the banana puree in Popsicle molds.
