If you need a Halloween costume for a Halloween party or other event, you might be thinking about making your own original costume. It can be easier to just go to a local store and purchase a pre-made one, but you might not be able to find one you like. Follow these steps to create your own original costume.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clothing items
  • Halloween makeup
  • Accessories
  • Craft supplies (optional)
  1. Step 1

Browse the Internet and visit some costume shops to get some ideas. If you can't find a particular item that you are looking for, consider making it yourself.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the general theme for your costume. You might choose to dress as an animal, something funny, scary or witty. Choose something that you will have fun with.

  3. Step 3

Choose the main part of the costume. For example, if you want to dress as a celebrity, you will need clothing that imitates what they would wear. On the other hand, if you want to be a pig, you could pick up some pink sweat pants and shirt at the store.

  4. Step 4

Add some props. Halloween makeup, wigs, masks, hats, shoes and jewelry can all add some personality to your costume. Of course, if you will be an animal, ears, a nose and a tail are probably a good idea.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider the weather in your area when designing your costume.
  • To get the most original costume, try to make something that other people won't be very likely to duplicate.
  • You will know you have a good costume if nobody has to ask you what you are supposed to be.
