Drop in a glitter fairy bath bomb when you're filling the tub with hot water and watch it bubble and fizz, leaving behind skin softening oils and a delightful fragrance. Glitter fairy bath bombs are so much fun to make that you'll want to make several and give them away as gifts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1¼ cups bicarbonate of soda or baking soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • 2 tsp. apricot kernel oil or sweet almond oil
  • 2 tsp. water
  • 3 vanilla pods
  • 4 to 5 drops food coloring (optional)
  • 12 to 15 drops of vanilla essential oil
  • ¼ tsp. very fine glitter

Step1
Combine the bicarbonate of soda or baking soda and citric acid in a small bowl and mix thoroughly.
Step2
Drizzle in the apricot kernel oil or sweet almond oil and mix it quickly, stirring only until the mixture is moist. Add the remainder of the oil along with the essential oil and the food coloring and mix it with your fingers. If the mixture seems too crumbly, add more oil or a teaspoon of water.
Step3
Roll the mixture into a ball with your hands or press it into a mold that has been lightly oiled.
Step4
Remove the glitter fairy bath bomb from the mold and let it dry on a piece of waxed paper for several days, until it's hard.
Step5
Store the glitter fairy bath bomb in a tightly sealed container and use one bath bomb per bath.

Tips & Warnings

  • Citric acid can usually be found in Asian grocery stores or pharmacies.
