Spilled tomato sauce leaves a tough stain on carpeting. You should take care of any tomato sauce spills immediately if possible. The sooner you remove these stains the more likely you are to get the spots out. There are several ways to clean up tomato sauce stains from a carpet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spoon
  • Vacuum
  • White paper towels or light-colored rag
  • Cold water
  • White vinegar
  1. Step 1

Scoop up the excess sauce from the carpet gently with a spoon. When doing so, start at the edge of the stain and work toward the center. This prevents unintentional spreading of the stain.

  2. Step 2

Vacuum any clumps that remain that you can not scoop up.

  3. Step 3

Blot up the rest of the juice with white paper towels or a light-colored rag.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the stained area with cold water and blot once more.

  5. Step 5

Pour or spray white vinegar onto the stain. Let it sit on the stained area for about 20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Rinse the stained area with cold water once more and blot dry.

  7. Step 7

Try club soda to remove the stain as well. Club soda is carbonated water and leaves no residue so it is perfect for cleaning stains off carpet.

  8. Step 8

Use a mixture of 1 Tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide and 3 Tbsp. of cold water to remove the stain. When using this mixture, apply to the stain and let sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with water and blot dry.

  9. Step 9

Try rubbing the stained area gently with a damp sponge and lemon juice. You can get the lemon juice from a jar or directly from a lemon. Then rinse the area with cold water.

  10. Step 10

Try using a mixture of 1 tsp. of dish detergent and 2 cups of cold water or stain remover to get rid of the tomato sauce stains in your carpet.
