Whether it's for Valentine's Day or just sending a love note to a special someone, folding a note into the shape of a heart is a simple and creative way to let someone know you care about them. Folding a note into a heart shape involves several steps and some practice, but is easy to do and works best using a square sheet of paper.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Square sheet of paper
  1. Step 1

Fold the top down to meet the bottom and crease then unfold the paper. Fold the right edge over to the left edge and crease then unfold the paper again. Then flip the paper over. You will have two creases in your paper: one horizontal, the other vertical. They should come to a point in the center of your square.

  2. Step 2

Make another crease by bringing the top edge down to the horizontal crease you've already made. Then turn the paper over again. Bring the left top corner of the paper down to meet the point in the center of the center leaving it folded. Repeat using the top left right corner. Flip the paper over and you will see the shape now has a triangle point on top.

  3. Step 3

Create the next fold by bringing the triangle point back to the center point in the middle of the square. Turn the paper over again you will see two square shaped pockets. Put a finger into the square pocket on the upper left side to open it up.

  4. Step 4

Bring the lower right edge of the pocket to the straight top edge of the model. This will create a crease line and you'll want to press it down flat. Repeat Step 4 above with the square pocket on the upper right side until both pockets have been creased again.

  5. Step 5

Pick up the straight left edge and fold it towards the center creasing it at the center vertical line. Do the same with the straight edge on the right side. Then fold the bottom edge up to just below the center point.

  6. Step 6

Take the bottom left corner to the center point and crease it. Do the same thing with the right corner. The bottom edges of both should lay on top of the vertical center line in the middle of the paper. Then turn the paper over again.

  7. Step 7

Finish the heart by pulling the left and right tips on the top back. Crease them and leave them folded.

Tips & Warnings
  • Begin your note-folding practice using regular white copy paper before using more decorative and heavyweight paper. This will save you money since you may have to practice these folds several times.
