How to Summon in RuneScape

To unlock the RuneScape Summoning skill, you must complete the Wolf Whistle quest. Summoning allows you to call forth a monster or pet from your collection of pouches to assist you in battle. Each creature you summon, often referred to as a familiar, has specific benefits like aiding in collecting materials, carrying items and boosting your combat level.

Instructions

1. Go to Taverly and start the Wolf Whistle quest by talking to Pikkupstix, who tells you the basics of Summoning. Watch the cut scene of the Wolpertinger upstairs and then return to Pikkupstix.

2. Skip to Step 3 if you have two wolf bones. Get two wolf bones from the White Wolf Mountains. Either kill two white wolves or look around for a dead wolf carcass and take two bones.

3. Return to Pikkupstix and take the items he gives you to the trapdoor to the East of Pikkupstix. You find the altar inside to create pouches and scrolls.

4. Select the "Infuse-pouch" and then the "Spirit Wolf Pouch" from the menu. Make two pouches and use one to create a "Howl Scroll."

5. Talk with Pikkupstix before going upstairs to the Wolpertinger. Select "Summon" on the Spirit Wolf Pouch and click the small head icon to use the "Howl" special attack. Set the Wolpertinger as the target for the attack.

6. Speak with Pikkupstix again and learn how to renew your Summoning points. Visit the altar and click "Renew-points." Complete the quest by talking with Pikkupstix.

7. Use the reward Pikkupstix gives you to create additional Summoning pouches. To get new charms, kill monsters and collect the charms they drop.

• Buy raw chicken from a store in Falador or Lumbridge or from Rufus' Meat Emporium in Canifis to reach the next RuneScape Summoning Level quickly.
