Making your wedding corsage yourself can save money. It also gives you a chance to get the right look you want with your choice of materials. Your wedding corsage may be made from leftover flowers from the bouquet, or you may choose to purchase extra flowers.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose your rose for your wedding corsage. You can also add more roses of various sizes or keep it simple and make a one-rose boutonnière. Be sure to keep the number of flowers to an odd number for a more professional designer look. Three and five are good numbers.

  2. Step 2

Stagger the roses in odd numbers and add filler, such as heather, baby's breath or other greenery. Wrap take around the stems together when you get the desired look.

  3. Step 3

Trim the stems to the desired length and tuck a pre-made bow into the wedding corsage. You can make the bow ahead of time or you can use a purchased bow.

  4. Step 4

Spin the corsage in your hand as you wrap the tape securely around the stems. You may also want to add some satin ribbon around the stem to give it a more elegant, finished look.

  5. Step 5

Tuck two pearl-headed corsage pins into the back and up through the stem of the wedding corsage.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use flowers other than roses, such as carnations or lilies.
  • If you are going to make a boutonnière instead of a wedding corsage, just leave off the bow.
  • Buy your roses no more than one day before the wedding to prevent them from wilting.
  • Get your roses either from a wholesale floral supply or in bulk from your a florist. Be sure and call around to compare prices.
  • Sometimes the roses you desire need to be ordered. Allow plenty of time to get them and don't wait until the last minute to shop for your flowers.
