The waltz never goes out of style. It's a very graceful, gentle and fluid dance that gives you the opportunity to glide over the dance floor with your partner. The under the arm turn is a pleasure to execute and adds elegance and style to the waltz. You'll perform the under the arm turn in 12 steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put your left hand on the man's shoulder, with your arm resting on his arm. He will hold you with his right hand, supporting your back. Place your right hand in his left hand. Your hands should be at your eye level.

  2. Step 2

Execute the first part of a basic waltz step, which is three steps. Your feet should be together to start. Take a step back with your right foot. Step to the left side with your left foot. Bring your right foot together with your left foot, with the weight on this foot.

  3. Step 3

Perform the turn. You will take six steps, turning to your right under your partner's raised left arm. Step forward with your left foot, turning slightly to the right. Continue taking five more steps turning to your right in a circle, ending on your right foot. You should be facing your partner at this point.

  4. Step 4

Complete the last part of the basic waltz step--three more steps. Step forward with your left foot, to the side with your right foot and bring your left foot together with the right foot.

  5. Step 5

Follow Steps 2 through 4 to continue performing the under the arm turn in the waltz.
